... and on the Bus, Part VI

As I got on the bus, the driver looked at me and frowned.  "Good morning," I smiled and he responded, "I'm helping out a friend today, first time on the route - it's simple, right?"  "It's rather easy, do you want me to stay here and help you out?"  He responded positively, and off we went.  As we progressed on the route, he explained how his co-worker needed a favor and he had no time to learn the route properly.  "I was hoping someone will help, and everyone so far has been great."  I guess sometimes us Israelis don't disappoint!

Reb Aryeh, I

Elazar Cohen's task was neither easy nor enviable when Israel was at war.  He was in charge of the helicopter squad, and he and his men had to take the helicopters continually into the range of enemy fire in order to rescue wounded soldiers.

Once he went to Reb Aryeh and asked him for a blessing - and the good rabbi refused to give it. "But why?" asked the puzzled army commander.

"Who am I to bless you?" asked Reb Aryeh "I truly believe your merit before heaven is greater than mine."

This is taken from Simcha Raz's A Tzaddik in our Time.
